This weekend was the first ever con of the South Ontario hacker spaces called MiniSoOnCon. Members of Diyode, HackLab.TO, KwartzLab all met up at the new hackerspace, Think|Haus in Hamilton, Ontario.
This was the first time Think|Haus was open to the public since they leased the space just a few months ago. The whole event was amazing. Just some of the highlights:
- The badges had an Arduino in them to do cool stuff
- Leigh from Hacklab. To put together a MakerBot that can fabricate 3 dimensional items
- James gave a great presentation about hacking for kids
- Radio frequency presentation about trunking technologies and what’s legal and illegal about listening in on police, fire, and emergency frequencies
- The people and the conversations going on were unlike any other con I’ve been to.
The event finished and a lot of us took the trip to Toronto to hang out at HackLab.TO and attend Nuit Blanche
These guys will be back next year and I look forward to what they can do with more than two months notice!
